Beautiful... Anand Warehouse in Mattancherry is a historic colonial-era godown that has gained modern fame as one of the most atmospheric venues for the Kochi-Muziris Biennale.

A spice ware house which once in a two year get converted into a art gallery with the help of kochi muziris biennale. Remnants of a bygone era. The property adds a great deal to the old world charm of this street that smells of history and spices. The fifth edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale opens on the 23rd of December, 2022 with over 200 projects spread across heritage properties and warehouses, galleries and public spaces across Fort Kochi, Mattancherry, and Ernakulam on India’s southwestern coast. The central exhibition In Our Veins Flow Ink and Fire curated by Singaporean artist Shubigi Rao, will run until April 10, 2023, featuring 90 artists and over 40 new commissions in historic Aspinwall House, Pepper House, and Anand Warehouse in Fort Kochi.
It is situated in the midst of a busy narrow road which has godowns and wholesale shops on both sides. Parking here is difficult. (Two wheeler could be adjusted but there is no way to park a four or three wheeler vehicles.) This venue also gives us a good view of the Arabian sea. Overall good. #FortKochi #Kochi #Biennale

The venue is also referred to as Gujarati Warehouse, once owned and operated by members of the Gujarati community that made this city their home around two centuries ago. The property adds a great deal to the old world charm of this street that smells of history and spices. Some intriguing exhibits. Especially Yohei Imamura's painstakingly beautiful works. This venue also gives us a good view of the Arabian sea. Worth a brief visit.
