There is union of outside loaders that control this warehouse. They demand upto Rs 10,000 for every lorry that enters it. Also extort money from the transporter. Even though it is illegal in Pondicherry they have the support to the local MLA to extract massive sums of money from companies that rent space in this warehouse. Finally when the company wants to vacacte they hold the company to ransom by not allowing them to take out their material and demand huge amount. It is unfortunate that the local elected representatives are working with illegal mafia to make doing business in Pondicherry almost impossible.
