The Transport Department (Directorate of Transport) in Port Blair is an important government office for vehicle registration, permits, and other transport-related services . The location is easy to find and well-connected, which makes it convenient for the public to visit . The staff is generally cooperative, but the overall process can be slow due to crowd and paperwork ⏳. Waiting time is common, especially during peak hours, so it’s better to visit early in the day . Basic facilities are available, but there is scope for better management and faster service ⚙️. Overall, it is a functional government office where work gets done, though patience is required. With improved efficiency and better customer handling, the experience could be much better .

The place is good, there's plenty of space, and they've set up a lot of counters. But as usual, the government staff is a bit slow, especially at counters 3 and 4. Everything else is fine. They claim to offer online services, but most of the time the website doesn't work, so we end up having to visit the RTO. Other than that, everything is okay.

1.Same ambience of Government office/ Karyalae. (Well cleaned and Maintained) Same Ambience 2. Long ques waiting at Counter for Long Hours. 3. Long waiting time even after completion of Application Online. (Scrutiny of Documents Submitted Online). 4. Waste of Booking an Appointment or Particular Time Slot for Special Services. 5. Need to have Seperate Counter fir Online Application only. 6. IT team need to work up fast in rectifying Website Crash issues. 7. Rest every time have a Good Amount of Patience .

This is the Directorate of Transport Department and all major official work done from here like issuing/changing any order/rule, local public transport rules, License Issuing, Road Tax Paying etc. Recently they have improve their infrastructure and it looks great. Also they have provided sitting arrangements for peoples who have business here.

Very courteous staff. Was very surprised to see staff were polite and humble enough to answer to every query I had. All counters were manned unlike other government offices . Excellent service.

RTO department is right infront of Marine Jetty. The offices here opens early and gets closed by afternoon by 12 or 1. And the place is bit crowdy too since. So incase u visit here expect your work to be done by afternoon only since its a long line. At morning they conduct test and later around 9 the offices open.

Wonderful authority to issue license, road tax, fitness of various vehicles, etc. Recently they launched the online portal to serve the citizens at their door steps.....The portal is user friendly...office building precinct is well maintained...and neat n clean environment
